The 2020 IntelliAnalytics Module is a self-contained rack-mount module designed for live video analytics using a flexible and growing range of image processing algoithms.

Inputs to the module are IP CCTV video: the unit expects to connect over the network to an IP camera capable of delivering MJPEG streams and stills over an HTTP push- or pull-style connection. MJPEG is used deliberately to retain higher image quality in all recieved frames – continuing image integrity being key to reliable analytics. Although analytics can be applied to decompressed H264 and MPEG video, the inherent degradation of spatial precision that motion-compression algorithms permit in the faster-moving components of the scene tends to reduce the performance of analytics on streams which have been motion-compressed, and so the undamaged frame sequence which MJPEG delivers is to be preferred.

Like all the other elements of the 2020 system, the IntelliAnalytics module is delivered as a turn-key, embedded 4U rackmount module. The modules are turn-key, fully self-contained units which are 100% self-managing: no PCs, software installation or setup is required - each module is ready to plug-in and run, right out of the box.

The algorithms currently offered by the IntelliAnalytics include Sterile Zone, Abandoned Bag detection, Parked Car detection, and Doorway detection and more will be released over time. Each module can be commanded to apply its attention to any of the cameras in the system which are of the right type (including existing analogue legacy cameras if equipped with appropriate encoders), and any selected camera can have any of the included algorithms applied to it's video.

Analytics output from the IntelliAnalytics module is in the form of an XML-formatted "bulletin" detailing the objects detected, coordinate data and other parameters. These are readily accessible to be "read" by any authorised device within the system via the integral HTTP server within the unit.

Although the IntelliAnalytics has been developed as part of the 2020 TuchControl system, the module has a simple CGI-based API, allowing it to be readily controlled and used by other VMS systems as a slave module. The command data into the module defining the analytics parameters is also delivered as a simple XML parcel, again via a simple CGI interface. For trial purposes, the module can even be controlled and tested from a web browser.
